# Connecting your WhatsApp number

> Link a personal number, choose sharing, and recover a paused or disconnected session.

You can link the WhatsApp number on your phone on the **WhatsApp** tab of **Settings → Connected accounts**, under **Your number**. Each member links one personal number. This is separate from **WhatsApp Business** numbers, which are set up for the whole workspace under **Settings → Phone & messaging**.

## Link your phone

  - Choose **Connect** and read the connection notice. This links Kepler to your WhatsApp as a device, like WhatsApp Web. Kepler syncs your chats and your phone's contacts, and the names you saved label your conversations. Use it for one-to-one conversations, not bulk sending; Kepler paces your messages and starts slowly for the first few days.

  - On the same step, choose what the workspace sees (see below), then choose **I understand**.

  - Choose **Scan a QR code** or **Enter a code on my phone**. For the code option, enter the number on the phone you will pair. Then choose **Start pairing**.

  - On your phone, open WhatsApp → **Linked devices**. Choose **Link a device** to scan the QR code, or **Link with phone number instead** to enter the displayed code. If the code expires first, start pairing again.

  - Wait for the account to show **Connected**, then open **Communications → WhatsApp**. You can also start linking from that tab.

Pair from a browser set to your own timezone: Kepler takes your timezone from the browser when you pair and uses it for your sending hours.

If pairing reports that personal WhatsApp is not configured or not available, contact support about availability for your workspace. Repeating the pairing steps will not fix a server setup issue.

## Choose who can see your conversations

There are three levels: **Private (only me)**, **Workspace sees activity only: who you talked to and when**, and **Workspace sees full messages**. Teammates only ever see conversations with people in the CRM, and the contact names you saved only show to people who can read full messages. A new number starts at the workspace's **Default sharing for new WhatsApp accounts** (under **Settings → Security & data**), or Private if none is set. To change it later, select **Manage** on the account and use **Sharing**. Review this separately from your email account's sharing settings.

Even on Private, the workspace owner can grant emergency access to your chats, and you are notified if that happens. If you leave the workspace, your synced chats are kept by default and the owner can give another member access to them.

## Sending

In Kepler you read and reply to the WhatsApp conversations synced from your phone. To start a new chat, start it on your phone, or use **Open in WhatsApp** on a person's hover card; it appears in Kepler once it syncs.

## Paused, waiting or disconnected?

  - Open the account actions to **Pause** or **Resume** a connected session.

  - For **Reconnect required** or a broken session, choose **Reconnect** and complete pairing again. **Blocked by WhatsApp** means WhatsApp has stopped the number itself; check the WhatsApp app on your phone before reconnecting.

  - Check **Sending health** for warm-up progress, today's allowance, new contacts today, pace, next availability and sending hours. Kepler paces messages, so a queued message may need to wait; the pace drops automatically for a while if delivery or replies fall, and rises again as they recover. This connection is for personal conversations, so a message that looks like a broadcast is refused and belongs in Campaigns.

## Disconnecting

Choose **Disconnect** from the account's **…** menu (or **Disconnect number…** under Manage) and confirm **Disconnect number**. This deletes the linked session and the contact names synced from your phone; existing synced conversations remain in Communications. You can also unlink the device from WhatsApp on your phone.
